Success story: A young man with developmental disabilities and a serious seizure disorder moved into one of the JRDS group homes at the age of 25. Here he learned to cook, clean, do his laundry, navigate the community, manage his finances, get along with others, and manage his health. After approximately 10 years of living within the group home setting, he was able to find a physician that located the correct combination of medications to control his seizures. After a few more years in the group home this young man was able to move into his own apartment with limited support from staff. He is proud of the accomplishments he has made in his life and is grateful to those who helped his dream come true.
